[ Hey, these are just things that happen to everyone. Waking up with wings in unknown barrier-surrounded nature, finding one of your children playing in the fountain perfectly at ease and getting the majority of your information from her. Very fast-paced, quite nonsensical seeming information at that.
Luceti, thus far, could not make any less sense. This probably shows on his face. Which, depending on Luceti citizens' art recognition skills, may be somewhat familiar. The odds are... what they are.
Tenzin is grateful for the little communications crash-course Ikki so happily provided, though. He passes on writing out a message in pink marker, though. The journal will catch the end of this conversation before he diverts attention to the pages again. Clearing throat and 3, 2, 1. ]
Jinora, if you can hear this, respond immediately. Korra, Asami, the same applies to you. I've found Ikki- [ If the featured airbending child securely latched onto his neck is anything to go by, of course. And the 'please' after that "same applies to you" is implied, all right. ] I would like to make sure everyone else is all right, and hear about what's happened.
[ You know, to see which elements corroborate with what he heard of Ikki's experiences. Especially regarding who she's been staying with. Which he'll be seeing for himself in person later, of course, once his daughter goes through with all plans to march him to Avatar House like a new pet. So there's that much. ]

[ action ] because i like to be different
And anyway, grocery shopping for a house full of this many kids and teenagers is a horrific fact of life.
So Katara's on her way to the plaza - she'll check in with Ikki and get more groceries all at the same time. Win/win!
Of course, she could just be any seventeen year old from the Southern Water Tribe, Tenzin. There's no reason to suspect she's your mother.]
[ action ] and we shall Katara - Tenzin - Ikki?
...maybe a bit of a stretch, there. She's obviously Water Tribe (which is obviously not a culture in great number here) and obviously familiar- it's just. Hard to pinpoint precisely how and still come out with a conclusion that's somewhat sensible. Which is a ridiculous goal to be aiming for, all things considered, but still one he can't quite give up.
Tenzin catches sight of her from his bench seat and furrows his
impressiveeyebrows immediately, tracking her path. ][ action ]
And probably not going to be able to pry off his daughters with a crowbar, if things keep on. Ikki does finally release Tenzin's neck to sit down beside him, though, her feet kicking absently as they dangle from the bench.
She's trying to keep quiet, and the effect is sort of that her face has gone red and she's puffed up her cheeks and is trying to bite her lips as she stares up at Tenzin, attempting to keep from interrupting any of his journaling experiments. It's probably fairly comical to anyone looking on. ]
[ action ] works for me! look, I'm even up!
(She tenses before she notes the obvious affection, no danger)
--with airbending tattoos, she freezes in place, growing markedly more pale.]
[ action ] hooraaaay
Needless to say, it finds the space to transform into something much less "are you breathing" and much more "oh child of mine, you are really trying aren't you". ] I'm certain no one will mind if you're talking, Ikki.
[ Himself included, today of all days especially. A speaking Ikki is an Ikki who is doing relatively well, much like a Meelo who sees no issue in chewing on his father's head. He's getting word that all the present kids can also be accounted for and aren't hurt- with the exception of finding Jinora, he's fine to divert attention to listening to what else she might have to say. There's lost time to make up for, apparently. If someone does mind, they're free to save their conversation for later in the day.
Water Tribe is already a bit distracting as it is. He doesn't stand when he spots her headed in their direction, but he's offering a light frown and a tilt of the head. Impossibilities are entirely possible. He's not particularly inclined to consider them. ]
[ action ]
She lets out her breath all at once and gives Tenzin an are you sure look that lasts maybe all of one second. ] Really? Good! 'Cause guess what? You can join the art club I'm starting if you want and you should because it's gonna be so much fun and -
[ Tenzin looks a little distracted. Ikki follows his gaze, her face screwed up in confusion - he might not catch all of what she says, but he always listens - and Ikki's expression suddenly went from baffled to one hundred percent thrilled. She beamed, waving at the Water Tribe girl. ] Katara!!!
[ She'd told her father about his parents already. That he didn't believe her hadn't actually clicked as of yet. ]
[ action ]
There was no backing out now, no room to compose herself, only moving forward on wooden legs to meet a stranger she apparently gave birth to.
She wants to stop. She wants to open up her arms and cue Ikki for a hug, but - she can't. She can't let on how disturbing and horrifying and wrong this is when the child is so - rightly - happy at the appearance of her father. So she just keeps walking closer.
This is Luceti. This is what happens. How could I ask Toph to bear it if I can't deal with it myself?]
...you're... Tenzin. Aren't you.
[ action ]
No.
Today is a day of barely-contained panic, it seems, and that much is evident in the quick look he shoots to Ikki and back after she greets Katara.
And it... is Katara. He wouldn't know her on sight at this age alone, but her face never did change too much, her hair, her eyes, and this can't be happening and she should not be here. Oh, what have they gotten themselves into?
...and he should probably answer her at some point. ]
I- [ He clears his throat. ] I am, yes. And you're- yes. I see.
[ action ]
She elbowed her father, not very hard. ] You're supposed to hug now. [ Said sotto voice, but probably still audible, with a chiding note. ]
[ She took her own advice, hopping up from the bench to go over to Katara, absently taking her hand like she's done so many times in the past week or so, and cheerfully filled her grandmother in. ] I found him in the plaza by the fountain and told him everything!
[ Obviosly Tenzin hadn't quite believed most of what she'd said, if his reactions were anything to go by. ...If he'd caught most of what she said. ]
[ action ]
Aang's coloring. Clearly he grew in to those cheekbones. Sokka's taste in beards. The shape of his eyes were Aang's, and she didn't know who to blame that nose on - long and straight and patrician - Hakoda, maybe, but she hadn't seen her father in, no - those were her eyes. A few shades lighter, maybe, but blue as any of the Water Tribe.
Oh.
She's not sure what she's feeling right now, as she continues to stare at him. Nothing at all? This is her son--
--something in her heart breaks a little at that and no no no no--
Moon and stars, he's old. How old is he? She'd thought by Ikki and Jinora's age that he'd be in his twenties, maybe his thirties, but look at those lines around his eyes.
At least he knew Aang longer--
No. No, no, no.
This isn't right. This is wrong.
"You're supposed to hug now."
All right, all right. For the sake of a child - for the sake of her family.
Breathe.]
Well, I never thought I'd meet you like this. And I imagine you thought the same.
[And we are going to Talk later.]
But I think we're supposed to hug now.
[Or maybe not, because it's not his fault. It's not. It's not his fault.
...this is her son?
Her son.
Moon and stars, she feels faint.]
[ action ]
Katara is handling this admirably well, of course, which is to be expected when she's very much herself and very much as Southern Water Tribe as ever (just the other sort of stories he grew up with: you should know about your heritage). And his mother is a child. Not a child precisely, but not an adult. Maybe Korra's age. He hesitates. ]
You don't have to do anything that makes you uncomfortable. [ Because quite frankly, it's all right to be uncomfortable when your son turns up this many years early and simultaneously half a century late. He can always explain the basic problem to Ikki, if it comes to it. ]
[ action ]
[ ...Maybe the problem the adults are having is that they don't have enough information about each other. ] You both give really good hugs, so it wouldn't be uncomfortable like when you hug someone who hugs too tight and then you can't breathe or when someone's all elbow-y and then your stomach hurts 'cause they elbow it.
[ Important stuff to add to this conversation, really. It feels like one of those adult moments where she's about to get sent home, or maybe handed a grocery list and patted on the head. ]
[ action ]
And then she turns and smiles at her son, but in that moment choose to set the strangeness aside and view him as Ikki's father, and she can certainly hug him - hug the man who is confused and scared, and probably angry, who never wanted to be in this situation in the first place. Yes, she can hug that man.]
Well, it wouldn't make me uncomfortable to hug Ikki's father. Stand up.
[Let's do this, send the child on her way, and then freak out like adults.]
[ action ]
But, in the spirit of setting an example for his daughter, he sees the wisdom in listening to his future mother. It is, of course, all about the wisdom in listening and not to do with the fact that she is his future mother.
Whatever helps you sleep at night, Tenzin. The point is, he stands up. ]
[ action ] and skipping Lucy for this round!
...it was a wonder she didn't run away screaming, actually. He's so old. I don't know him at all.
No, she won't think of that. She just knocks viciously on the door of her heart and tears opened the gates that had shut in self-defense because she would at least give him this much consequence.
Circumstances aside, he's part of our family.
She closed her eyes and concentrated on conveying only these thoughts through her hug: I know you're scared. I know you're confused. I am too. But it will be okay, because we're family and we're together.]
[ action ] skipping back in, what up
Katara looked so much younger next to Ikki's father. It was strange, and jarring, but it wasn't an inherently bad feeling for Ikki.
Without knowing her, without having her in their times, Katara and Aang and Sokka and Toph and everyone had welcomed her in, even if there might have been problems she couldn't see. Whatever they weren't to her, whatever they would become, they were family always, and Ikki held onto that belief, lived it in family dinners and waking up to make breakfast with Aang or Sokka.
And a very big part of her was so, so happy she could introduce these people to someone she loved as much as her father. Even with the problems that might bring. ]
[ action ] I'll get a hug icon one of these days
Having Ikki in on it as well makes it a little bit easier, makes him feel a touch less awkward in light of everything. It's not entirely unlike looking at Korra and once in a while being entirely aware that she's his father reborn. Katara, who is not entirely his mother but who holds her family in such high regard, very different but almost the same on some fundamental level.
There have been worse hugs in the world. ]
[ action ] You're in the Avatar Cast again, Dani - hugs are a must
Gah. Awkward.]
Welcome to Luceti.
[Tenzin.
She can't make herself say the name.]
[ action ] It's true B(
Quite awkward. ]
Thank you.
[ action ] "again"?
Ikki's used to her father's height, and settles for dangling off his arm. It's more odd for her that Meelo and Jinora aren't also around and hanging off of Tenzin. Mostly Meelo.
She's watching the adult exchange with interest. ]
[ action ] she was our Smellerbee! And idk whose turn it is so I am going
And then she turns her attention to her granddaughter.]
Ikki, your dad and I need to talk for a few minutes by ourselves. Where would you like to go?
[ action ] I was indeed aaaa. asdjfald also I'm the worst I'm sorry
Still, for the best to clarify since he doesn't know Luceti's layout and all. ]
Not too far, please.
