Which was the point, of course, so he can hardly say her methods aren't effective, but he'll raise an eyebrow at her in spite of everything- don't worry, we're handling the steps of meeting in the wrong order. She's a child; this situation isn't something she sees as overly complicated. Tenzin thinks he'll be grateful for that if they're here for long.

Katara is handling this admirably well, of course, which is to be expected when she's very much herself and very much as Southern Water Tribe as ever (just the other sort of stories he grew up with: you should know about your heritage). And his mother is a child. Not a child precisely, but not an adult. Maybe Korra's age. He hesitates. ]


You don't have to do anything that makes you uncomfortable. [ Because quite frankly, it's all right to be uncomfortable when your son turns up this many years early and simultaneously half a century late. He can always explain the basic problem to Ikki, if it comes to it. ]
